Witness
Witness is any person who deposits evidence in the court to prove or disprove any matter in question.
Types:
According to the nature of the evidence, the witness is divided into three categories-
1. Common witness
2. Expert witness
3. Scientific witness
Common Witness:
A common witness is a person who gives evidence straight cut in his own words about the facts observed or perceived by his sense of organs.
Expert Witness:
Expert witness is a person who has been trained or is skilled in a technical or scientific subject and is capable of giving opinions and conclusions from the facts he observes by himself or notices by others. Examples include a Doctor, firearm expert, fingerprint expert, etc.
Scientific Witness:
A scientific witness gives evidence that he has been observed or perceived using scientific instruments or technologies, e.g., pathologists, chemical examiners, videographers, etc.
According to the truthfulness of the evidence, the witness is divided into two categories-
1. Hostile witness
2. Perjury
