Sexual intercourse by a man with a woman with consent or connivance when, at the time of coitus, one of them is legally married to another person.
MDICOLEGAL IMPORTANCE OF ADULTERY
According to sec 497 BPC, the accused male shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 5 years or with fine or with both. Here, the male will be punished only; the female will not be punished as an abettor.
