WITNESS

2. Perjury

A “perjury witness” generally refers to a person who has either committed perjury or is a witnes in a case where perjury is involved.

Perjury itself is the act of knowingly lying or making false statements while under oath, typically in a legal proceeding. If someone is a “perjury,” it could mean they are either.

  1. A person accused of perjury: They are under suspicion for providing false testimony under oath and are being questioned about their statements.

  2. A person who witnessed perjury: They may have seen or have knowledge of someone else committing perjury and may be called to testify about it in a legal case.

In either case, perjury is a serious offence, as it undermines the integrity of the legal system. If proven, it can result in criminal charges and legal penalties.
